Speaker: Veena Iyer, Executive Director, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
During this virtual meeting, Ms. Iyer will discuss the work of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota during these challenging times and share how people can help the immigrant community and the center in its work.
As executive director of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Veena Iyer continues to follow her passion for serving immigrant and other underserved populations. Veena began her legal career at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago. While working in a private law firm in Minnesota from 2011-2019, she represented clients as a pro bono attorney with ILCM, Tubman and Standpoint.

Speaker: Michelle Rivero,Director of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, City of Minneapolis
Ms. Rivero heads up the city’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA), an office that opened in July 2018 and which supports city initiatives to welcome, support, and defend the city’s immigrant and refugee communities. There will be time for Q & A and specific action items given for those who want to help.
