New Metro E Line Plan Released

Public Comment Open Now through April 8

Metro Transit has released its latest draft of the METRO E Line plan for an arterial bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will run through Linden Hills from the University of Minnesota to Edina’s Southdale Transit Center. In Fall 2021, Metro Transit collected public feedback on the initial draft of this line. Project staff compiled and reviewed the feedback and have now released the Recommended Corridor Plan. You can check it out and comment here: metrotransit.org/e-line-corridor-plan.

The METRO E Line will upgrade and substantially replace Route 6, an important route in Linden Hills. Eight BRT station platforms will be built in Linden Hills (4 northbound and 4 southbound). These platforms are larger (60 feet long) and feature shelters with lights, heaters, and benches, as well as ticket machines and trash/recycling bins. The locations of Linden Hills stations include: Sheridan and 39th, Upton and 43rd, 44th and Abbott, and France and 44th.

Construction of E Line stations is expected to begin in 2024 – 2025, but now is the time to comment. Review each station location, read the entire plan and provide comments at metrotransit.org/e-line-corridor-plan. You can also email comments to eline@metrotransit.org.

After public comment closes on April 8, Metro Transit will review feedback and present a final plan to the Metropolitan Council. Met Council will vote on the plan in May 2022.
