LH Library Debuts New Teen Area

For the last few months, Linden Hills Library has been working on a collaborative project with the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council, Hennepin County Library, and teenaged patrons to make the library space more teen-friendly.

After several meetings of its new Teen Advisory Group (TAG Team), the library renovated its teen space to include updated furniture and decorations that not only appeal to teens but also visually distinguish it as space separate from the adult areas.

The library hopes the renovated teen space will be a place to read, to study, to learn something new, and to relax.  Keep an eye on this space as it continues to change!

The Teen Advisory Group is also helping develop programs focused on the needs and interests of our patrons between the ages of 12 and 18, including:

Teen: Games, Games, Games! November 23, December 7 &21, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Grades 6-12. Board games, trading card games, and tabletop games. Drop in anytime. No registration required.

Teen Advisory Group, November 26, 6-7:30 p.m. Grades 8-12. Want the teen space at Linden Hills to better represent you and your peers? Join the new Teen Advisory Group to advise on matters of teen services, programming, and materials.

Thrift-Store Re-Paint, Tuesday, December 3, 6-8 p.m., Grades 6-12. Help us redecorate the teen space! Use acrylic paint to add creatures, characters, or monsters to thrift-store oil paintings. Registration required at the library’s events page.
