Help Make Linden Hills Pesticide Free

To help spread the word about the importance of healthy and safe lawns, LHiNC’s Environment & Sustainability is launching a Pesticide-Free Campaign. Most fertilizers and pesticides currently used are made with harmful chemicals that negatively impact the health of humans and the natural environment. Fortunately, there are several natural alternatives that support both a healthy and beautiful yard. Read more about the effects of pesticides below.

How can you get involved? Purchase a Pesticide-Free yard sign for $15 – a great way to begin a community conversation about the negative effects of pesticide use. Funds raised will support projects run by LHiNC’s Environmental & Sustainability Committee, such as healthy soil, recycling and composting education, invasive species pulls, native and pollinator plantings, rain garden installation and more.

Purchase your sign today! Signs will be hand delivered to your home in 5-7 days.

  • Cash/Check: Send to LHiNC at PO Box 24049, Minneapolis, MN 55424. Please include your name and address for delivery.
  • Order Online: You can pay with PayPal or any credit/debit card.

More information about pesticides

The term pesticide applies to herbicides, fungicides, and many other substances used to control pests. The negative effects of such substances include harm to human and pet health, contamination of soil and water, toxicity to pollinators and decreased fish and bird populations. Most notably, recent research has shown that pesticides can be found inside many American homes. The adverse health effects of such exposure include an elevated risk of cancer, birth defects, developmental delays in children and disruption to the immune and endocrine systems.
