WEEKLY

Mondays: Initials Game with Trivia Mafia at Wooden Ship on Mondays at 6:30p.

Tuesdays: Minneapolis Audubon Society Guided Walks in Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Tuesdays at 9:00a through the end of May.

Tuesdays: Trivia with Trivia Mafia at Wooden Ship on Tuesdays at 6:30p.

Wednesdays: Adult Walking Group at Linden Hills Recreation Center on Wednesdays from 4/30 through 6/4. Free with registration.

Wednesdays: Wine Wednesdays at Picnic (half-off bottles of wine) from 5:00-11:00p.

Wednesdays: Lakewood Walking Tours on Wednesdays at 5:00p, beginning 5/7. Free with registration.

Thursdays-Sundays: Everett & Charlie's Music on the Sidewalk Series, beginning 5/16. Thu/Fri/Sat at 5:30p and Sun at 11a.

Thursdays: Art in the Park at Linden Hills Recreation Center on Thursdays from 1:30-3p, beginning 5/1. Join us for an afternoon of painting, drawing, ceramics and other creative projects. The class will be peer-instructed and rely on your creativity. Ages 55+, free with registration.

Thursdays: Live music at Wooden Ship on Thursdays at 6:00p.

Saturdays: Spring Migration Bird Walks at the Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Saturdays from 8-10a from 4/12 to 5/24.

Saturdays: Yoga Reflect at the Lakewood Welcome Center on Saturdays from 8-9a, beginning 6/7. Free, no registration required.

Sundays: Linden Hills Farmers Market on Sundays from 10a-1p in the parking lot of Settergren's.

Sundays: Wooden Ship Happy Hour on Sundays from 12:00-3:00p. $3 off full pours.

MAY

May 1: Lakewood Trolley Tour on Thursday, 5/1 at 5p. Hop aboard the trolley for a guided tour of Lakewood’s 250 acres of park-like beauty and storied history. $20 tickets required.

May 2: Foeder 44 Release Party with Modist Brewing at France 44 on Friday, 5/2, from 5-8p. We're so excited to announce the release of our third annual exclusive beer partnership with Modist Brewing! This is a family-friendly event, and tickets are not required.

May 3: Linden Hills Neighborhood Garage Sale on Saturday, 5/3 from 9a-3p.

May 3: Friends of the Linden Hills Library Spring Book Sale in front of the Linden Hills Library on Saturday, 5/3, from 9a-1p. It may be cancelled if it rains. 

May 3: Minneapolis Friends Meeting is hosting an Outdoor Solar Power and Carbon Reduction Informational Session, along with the ribbon cutting for their rooftop solar array, on Saturday, 5/3, from 10a-1p at 4401 York Ave S. Open to the public and free food will be provided. Several local government officials will be present as speakers.

May 3: The Evolution of Music: Past, Present and Future at the Linden Hills Library on Saturday, 5/3 from 10:30-12p. Join COMPAS Teaching Artist Soli Hughes with song, history discussions, and music participation. Free, registration required.

May 3: Tree & Shrub Planting in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, 5/3, from 12-2:30p. Tools and training will be provided.

May 3: Rides resume on the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line. Open on weekends from 12:30-8:30p in May, with more frequent service starting on Memorial Day.

May 3: Smash Burger Day at the Lake Harriet Masonic Hall from 11a-1p. Open to the public! We serve fresh beef smashed burgers with all the fixings, plus a bag of chips and pop for just $10. All-beef hot dogs and hand-scooped shakes are also available.

May 4: Wooden Ship Vegan Pop-Up with Northern Lights Baking on Sunday, 5/4 from 1-4p.

May 4: Music in the Chapel: Duo CORDA on Sunday, 5/4 from 3-4p. Join Lakewood Cemetery as we welcome Duo CORDA for an hour-long performance of expressive music inside the Memorial Chapel. $10 in advance / $15 at the door.

May 4: All Aboard the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line on Sunday, 5/4, from 10a-noon. A calmer, quieter ride for neurodiverse folk, families, and friends. Regular fares apply.

May 6: Comma’s NYT Best Books of the 21st Century Book Club: The Known World on Tuesday, 5/6 from 6-7:30p. RSVP online.

May 6: Linden Hills Neighborhood Council (LHiNC) Board Meeting on Tuesday, 5/6 from 7-8:30p at the Linden Hills Recreation Center. Metro Transit to share information at this month’s meeting. No registration required.

May 7: Frog Walk in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Wednesday, 5/7 from 8:30-9:30p. Listen for Toads, Gray Tree Frogs, and Cope's Gray Tree Frogs. Our guide will be Don Luce, a naturalist, avid birder, writer, artist, and former curator at the Bell Museum. Free and open to the public.

May 8 & 9: Lake Country School Plant Sale at 3755 Pleasant Ave S from 8:30a-5:30p. Choose from various vegetables, herbs, and flowers grown organically at the Lake Country Land School, our 160-acre farm school in Dunn County, WI. Native perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, and pollinator packs are also available.

May 10: Bookish Cookie Decorating Class at Comma with The Chocolate Chickadee on Saturday, 5/10 from 8:30-10:30a. $55, advance tickets required.

May 10: Mother’s Day Mini-Floral Memorials at Lakewood on Saturday, 5/10 from 10a-12p. Create a one-of-a-kind mini floral bouquet in honor of the moms who are loved and missed. Free, registration requested.

May 10: Wooden Ship’s Fourth Anniversary Block Party on Saturday, 5/10, from noon-10p. Live music! Kids activities! Food trucks! Tattoos!

May 11: Mother’s Day with the Como-Harriet Streetcar on Sunday, 5/11, from 12:30-8:30p. Regular fares apply – except that all moms ride free with their family.

May 11: Wooden Ship Mother’s Day Pop-Up with 10,000 Links on Sunday, 5/11 from 4-6p.

May 13: Comma’s Romance Book Club: First-Time Caller on Tuesday, 5/13 from 6-7:30p. RSVP online.

May 13-16: Linden Hills Rec Center Gardening – Planting Week from 3-4p on Tuesday, 5/13, through Friday, 5/15. Come help plant seeds and seedlings that will grow into various produce plants, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, carrots, greens, and more! Staff will be there to guide the planting process.

May 15: Linden Hills Library Book Club will discuss Yellow Face by RF Kuang on Thursday, 5/15, from 7-8p. A limited number of lending copies will be available at the service desk. This book club is offered as hybrid (both in-person & online), depending on individual patron interest. Please register in advance.

May 15: Third Thursday Adult Craft Classes at Heartfelt: Meditative Watercolor Art on Thursday, 5/15 from 6-8p. Create a unique piece of art using watercolors and Posca paint markers. Making art is stress-relieving and fun. Immerse yourself in the experience and take home your framed piece. $40 registration required.

May 15: Lakewood’s Artist in Residence Talk and Welcome Reception on Thursday, 5/15, from 6-8:30p. Get to know the first cohort of artists in the Lakewood Artist in Residence program. Free, RSVP Required for chapel seating.

May 17 & 18: Doors Open Minneapolis with the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line on Saturday 5/17& Sunday 5/18, from 10a-5p. Ever wonder what goes on inside the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line carbarn? See for yourself. Guided tours and demonstrations. Walk to the barn from the station (free) or ride the streetcar ($3 fare required). Return trips are free to all.

May 18: Explore Lakewood's stunning spaces as part of Doors Open Minneapolis 2025 on Sunday, 5/18 from 10a-5p. See the breathtaking mosaics inside our historic Memorial Chapel and the innovative features of our state-of-the-art Welcome Center. Free.

May 18: Comma’s Fiction Book Club: The Antidote on Sunday, 5/18 from 4-5:30p. RSVP online.

May 20: Taste of Linden Hills on Tuesday, 5/20 at St. Thomas the Apostle Gymnasium. Support the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council (LHiNC)! This fun, upscale evening celebrates the amazing food in our neighborhood and raises money that we invest right back into the community through neighborhood grants, events, and other programs. Tickets required: $75 standard tickets (enter at 7p) & $100 VIP tickets (enter at 6:30p).

May 24: Trimming Buckthorn in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, 5/24 from 10a-1p. Wear gloves, eye protection, boots or waterproof shoes, and layers. Bring drinking water and a lopper and pruner if you can. Meet across from Lake Harriet North Beach.

May 24: Pop-Up Spritz Bar at France 44 on Saturday, 5/24, from 5-9p. Join us for a one-night-only bar takeover by the fabulous Karina Roe—formerly of France 44 fame, now repping the legendary Haus Alpenz Imports.

May 26: Linden Hills Library is closed on Monday, 5/26.

May 26: Memorial Day at Lakewood Cemetery on Monday, 5/26. Join Lakewood on Memorial Day for a special ceremony and celebration honoring those who are loved and missed. Free and open to the public.

May 26: Memorial Day on the Como-Harriet Streetcar on Monday, 5/26, from 9:30a to 8:30p. Join us in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice with a ride through history. From 10a-5p, living historians will be present to display uniforms and gear of soldiers, sailors and Marines from the Civil War until WW II. Ride the streetcar down to the Bde Make Ska gate of Lakewood Cemetery where you may tour the grounds as long as you like before catching the trolley back to the depot.

May 28: Memorial Blood Centers Mobile Blood Drive at Wooden Ship on Wednesday, 5/28 from 2-8p. Sign up here to donate blood.

May 30: Simply Overdressed at Linden Hills Park on Friday, 5/30, from 6-7p.

May 31: Everett & Charlie’s Gallery Gala on Saturday, 5/31 from 6-9p. Live music, silent auction, and meet local artists.

JUNE

June 3: Comma’s NYT Best Books of the 21st Century Book Club: The Corrections on Tuesday, 6/3, from 6-7:30p. RSVP online.

June 4: Frog Walk in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary on Wednesday, 6/4, from 9-10p. In June, we will be listening for Green Frogs. Our guide will be Don Luce, a naturalist, avid birder, writer, artist, and former curator at the Bell Museum. Free and open to the public.

June 5: Music in the Chapel: Cantus on Thursday, 6/5, from 6-7p. The “engaging” (New Yorker) low-voice ensemble Cantus is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming and riveting performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century. $40 in advance / $50 at the door.

June 14: Honoring Father’s Day 2025 with Lakewood on Saturday, 6/14, from 8a-4:30p. Join Lakewood the Saturday before Father's Day as we honor fathers and father figures who are loved and missed. White roses will be available to everyone at no cost, while supplies last. Free event, no registration needed.

June 15: Father’s Day with the Como-Harriet Streetcar on Sunday, 6/15, from 12:30-8:30p. Regular fares apply – except that all dads ride free with their family.

June 19: Tea Ceremony and Grief Circle at Lakewood on Thursday, 6/19, from 4:30-6p & 6:30-8p. Explore the meditative and peaceful properties of the historic tradition of tea rituals. This powerful experience will allow time for reflection and contemplation on grief and loss. $30 in advance / $40 at the door.
